It has been reported by Mercury News that Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will not be playing for Team USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics. It is reported that Curry has said that he will not participate in the Olympics in order to let his right knee heal. Many Olympic athletes have announced that they will not be participating in the Olympics because of the concern over Zika virus and the poor conditions in Rio. Bulls center Pau Gasol is also among some of the NBA players who have expressed concern about playing in Rio and it is expected that other NBA players will be opting out of the Olympics as well.

I think this is a smart move by Curry, especially with the Warriors currently playing in the NBA Finals. Curry also is expected to receive a max contract from the Warriors after the 2017 basketball season, so avoiding any further injury is vital.
