Colin Kaepernick hits rock bottom: gets compared to Blaine Gabbert

As if Collin Kaepernick's situation wasn't bad enough already, Chip Kelly just compared him to Blaine Gabbert. The 49er's head coach said, "from a skill standpoint, the two of them are kind of cut out of the same mold." Yeah I guess that makes perfect sense considering one took his team to 2 straight NFC championships and the other one has been riding the bench for the past 2 years.

You have got to be kidding me Chip Kelly. I think you might have actually gone insane. I knew it was bad over there in the Bay Area, but you can't go out making comparisons like that. I do have to keep in mind that this is the same coach who came into Philadelphia, traded all of the good players, and then eventually got fired 2 years later. It sounds like the beginning to a short stay with the 49ers as well. Kaepernick has had his struggles in the past 2 seasons, but he has still proved that he can be a capable starting quarterback in this league. This is the same quarterback who was a touchdown away from a Super Bowl win against the Ravens in 2012. To be fair to Kaepernick, he does not have much to work with in San Francisco. Over the past 2 years, basically every good 49ers player has either gotten hurt, retired, or left and became a full time Warriors fan.

In my opinion it would be ludicrous for Chip Kelly to even think about starting Gabbert. Kaepernick is the perfect mold of a quarterback that Chip Kelly could ever want. Even though there is still question to when he will be back from injury, I would take an injured Colin Kaepernick over a healthy Blaine Gabbert. Colin I know you have been having a rough time with everything, but look on the bright side, at least you didn't get traded to the Cleveland Browns.
